![]() ![]() Although I loved his overall character growth. ![]() I felt that Warner was angry in this book and I think it would have been better if we got his point of view, to hear his thought and see what he is going through. I figured since they were the main story that the last book would be spent wrapping up their story. As it was the last book I thought we would have more time with Warner and Juliette/Ella. ![]() Don’t get me wrong I love Kenji, he is my favourite character in the whole book after all but I think we got a little too much time with Kenji. My biggest problem with this book is that we never got Warner’s point of view. I think everything just got way too complicated and I feel like the ending was super rushed and kind of sloppy. Sadly, I strongly believe that it should have stayed a trilogy. So I was really glad to have finally finished this series. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lepore acknowledges that she's not able to cover everything: "No one could. It's hard to think of a single passage more emblematic of the American ethos.īut has America lived up to the ideas of the founders of this country, many of whom failed to heed their own words in the first place? That's the question that forms the basis of Lepore's magnificent book. The title of Jill Lepore's new history of the United States should be instantly recognizable to all Americans. Publishing tries to solve this problem by publishing books that are a bit like something successful. Sometimes, successful authors will have back-catalogues that can satiate an audience’s desire but more often than not, great books are kind of hard to find. When a book hits big, readers will walk into a book shop and say they want more of the same. The problem was that for every world-famous author rubbing shoulders with movie stars on late-night TV there were literally dozens if not hundreds of authors who were… well… shit. These were not just good years, they were fat years. Back in the 1970s, a successful horror novel could sell in the hundreds of thousands of copies, the best-known writers were house-hold names and Hollywood producers were falling over themselves to sign the rights to anything even remotely decent. ![]() ![]() Justice Strauss, a neighbor of Count Olaf, provides the one bright spot in the orphans' lives.
